WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY GIVEAWAY WINNERS

We've had an overwhelming response to our Wedding Photography Giveaway and would like to thank all our entrants for their very special and heartfelt entry.  It was extremely difficult to choose a stand alone winner, however, we would like to congratulate Sharon & Ben from Perth for sharing their wonderful story which is featured below. Congratulations Ben & Sharon!  We cannot wait to photography your wedding at Alverstoke Barn in Brunswick x

THE LOVE STORY OF BEN & SHARON

We met in September 2009 whilst out at a cocktail bar in the city called 1907. I was out with my best friend Steph having a few quite drinks when Ben walked in with some work friends, he slowly made his way over and we started chatting, he made me laugh and I made him smile. After a few cocktails Ben decided to head home so we said our goodbyes and I watched him walk away. Five minutes later when I was in the middle of discussing our encounter with my friend Ben appeared behind me, he handed me a $20 and said why don’t you buy yourselves another drink then left again. As I looked down at the note I realised that he had written his phone number on it. The next day I messaged him and so the love story begins. Our first date was at little creatures in Fremantle where we shared pizza and a bottle of wine, as well as our first kiss.

I carried the $20 note around in my purse but unfortunately about a month after we met the money was used to rescue a friend from a taxi when no other money could be found. It was with great heartache that I handed it over to the driver. Ben and I shared two and a half happy years together travelling and falling more and more in love.

On the morning of 29th February 2012 Ben was heading up north for work and I was going out to dinner with my friend Steph for another friends going away. I arrived at Stephs to get ready, she seemed a bit nervous but I just brushed it off. Whilst in the car on the way to the city our friend mentioned that we could go and have a few cocktails at 1907 (the bar where Ben and I met) before dinner, I thought nothing of it at all and agreed. As we walked through the door of 1907 I noticed that it was completely empty, Jack Johnson was coming out of the speakers, one of my favourites. As we came around the bar I noticed Ben sitting on the couch, I was shocked at first and so confused as he was meant to be away. Steph briskly pushed me forward and ran away

When I approached Ben he gave me a hug and asked if he could tell me a story, he proceeded to explain about how he had made the decision to ask me to marry him and how he had received a random phone call from a girl who had gotten his number off a $20 note. He couldn’t believe it, it was a sign that it was meant to be! He asked that if he sent a replied paid envelope and $50 if the girl would send the note back to him, she said she would but it never arrived. Ben was very disappointed but went on planning how he was going to ask me and looking for a ring. When he received another phone call, from a man living in South Australia who had found the note Ben thought that surely this was a trick and someone else after more money from him but he couldn’t risk it so he sent another replied paid envelope and $50. At this point in the story Ben pulled the note out of his pocket and showed me, and there it was the note with his number on it just as I remembered after two and a half years, the note that had never been seen or heard off for that whole time. (How amazing that it appeared at this point in our lives/relationship). Ben then asked me to turn it over and in big black writing were the words “will you marry me?” as I looked up from the note Ben got down on one knee and produced his grandmothers engagement ring, through tears of joy I said yes. We sat down and had a few drinks to calm both our nerves, Ben told me we were heading out to dinner and unbeknown to me there was another surprise to come. As we left 1907 we were walking up the street and passed another small bar called Venn, Bens friend owned the bar and he asked if I wanted to stop in and see if he was there and have a drink, so we did. Coincidently Bens friend was there and gave us his congratulations and said lets go up to the roof top bar and have a drink to celebrate. As I was heading up the steps I was still shaking from all the excitement, we came around the corner and all I heard was a huge surprise and to my shock there stood all our family and friends!!! Ben had planned a whole surprise engagement party and all my family and friends had kept the secret from me. Lucky I said yes!! We went on to have a wonderful night and it is one that I will never forget.

Our wedding at Alverstoke Barn in Brunswick Junction, it will become the most important day of my life when my best friend and soul mate becomes my husband.  Life is never boring with Ben in it and I have plenty of happy and amazing memories, he still never does anything by halves. I am waiting for what surprise will await me on the wedding day.

Unfortunately during our move into a new house the $20 note has since again been lost, we are hoping that it somehow got mixed up with other money and spent or I have hidden it in such a safe place I cant remember. All I know is that we both check every $20 note that we come across and maybe one day we will find it. Maybe it is fate and it will again return to us at just the right time..

Ben and I with the $20 on the night of our engagement!!

THE FLOWER BENCH

THE FLOWER BENCH

The Flower Bench was simply conceived of a love for fresh flowers and for everyone to be able to bring a touch of colour & joy to their home at an affordable price!

Sometime ago Greg & Russell, who both adore having fresh flowers in their home had noticed a complete lack of fresh bunched goodness in Bunbury and decided to bring a little bit of French Parisian culture to their Café by the Estuary by bringing flowers in each weekend.  From there things evolved, they sprouted wings and as they say ‘the rest is history’…

The perfect home for The Flower Bench just jumped out at them opposite the adequately named Rose Hotel for their little space to grow & bring goodness and moved onto the next chapter.  They not only wanted to bring the wonders of freshly cut market flowers to town, but compliment them with unique & affordable gifts or for a little treat for oneself *wink wink*.  After much careful deliberation, selections, many a shopping spree their first order of giftware’s & jewellery had been made ready to open the doors.

The Flower Bench is a flower shop, not a florist – let’s make that clear.  You can purchase fresh bunches for yourself, a gift to be delivered or have an array of options by mixing to your heart’s content.  You won’t find a cardboard box or clear nasty cellophane in site; instead classic brown paper, old school twine, simple & unique vases and beautiful big baskets ideal for filling with colour.  The aim is to let the stunningness of fresh bunch flowers speak for themselves.  Their beauty is key.

Greg & Russell’s aim is for everyone to be able to purchase a bunch of fresh flowers at an affordable price to bring colour to their home!  Style, class & joy shouldn’t come at a high price or come wrapped with fill & cellophane.

Colour & fun is to be shared, so remember all it takes is a little posey to brighten someone’s day.  Call past the shop, say hi & enjoy.

Always in Flower Bench style. x

The Flower Bench 72 Wellington Street, Bunbury, WA 6230 Join them on Facebook to see more of their amazing shop, flowers and products.

FIRST DAY AT KINDY

FIRST DAY AT KINDY

One word to describe this is... WOW!  I cannot believe that our little man, Talon, started his first day at Kindy today.  He woke up this morning started jumping up and down and running around the house shouting, "SCHOOL TODAY!"  He ate breakfast, brushed his teeth, spiked his hair and put on his new school uniform in a record time.  Both Steve and I watched him as we walked with him to school today and we couldn't stop smiling.  We are incredibly proud of what Talon has achieved and what his future holds x
